BOLOGNA, Italy (AP) -Mired in last place in the Italian league, Bologna has fired its coach Pierpaolo Bisoli.

The club made the announcement Tuesday, without naming a successor.

Bologna lost 2-0 at Udinese on Sunday and has only one point from its opening five Serie A matches. The team has scored just two goals and conceded 10.

Former Lazio and Genoa manager Davide Ballardini and Stefano Pioli - who was fired by Palermo before the season began - are being mentioned as possible replacements.

Bisoli replaced Alberto Malesani at the end of last season after Bologna narrowly avoided relegation.

Serie A is currently on break for international fixtures, with Bologna's next match at Novara on Oct. 16.
