Kim K. on divorce: Listen to your intuition





>>> tv star kim kardashian raced off to australia shortly after announcing her split with her new husband but the media glare is just as bright in the land down under. nbc's mara schiavocampo has more.

>> reporter: kardashian 's trip to australia makes one thing clear -- interest in the story extends far beyond the u.s. the reality star was mobbed when she got to australia and has been facing questions about her failed marriage every step of the way.

>> reporter: speaking up down under on an australian morning show on thursday. kim kardashian , little sister khloe by her side, made her first tv appearance since filing for divorce from basketball player kris humphries .

>> reporter: as the sisters repeatedly reminded viewers about their line of handbags.

>> they were repeatedly asked about kim's romantic baggage.

>> reporter: monday in l.a. she filed for divorce from her husband of just 72 days citing irreconcilable differences. it followed a very public romance, much of it taped for her reality show on our sister network e!

>> people have had a negative reaction because they feel they've been duped.

>> translator: is said they pocketed $18 million for the wedding prompting many to wond fer the quickie marriage was a money making sham, something kim was quick to refute.

>> there has been from the start so many rumors of money and dollar signs of all these things thrown up in the air, so much of it not being true.

>> reporter: speaking on the "today" show wednesday kardashian 's mother chris jenner also denied a wedding for profit.

>> they made some money for the pictures that were sold and things like that, but at the end of the day that money went toward the wedding.

>> how much money did she make for the photographs?

>> i don't know what the end result was but it was less than a million dollars.

>> okay.

>> probably more than a half a million dollars.

>> reporter: still, some just aren't buying it.

>> does anybody in here believe that kim kardashian did not profit off the wedding?

>> to sit there and say they're not profiting is insulting to everybody watching.

>> reporter: now from kardashian a rare plea for privacy.

>> you want to kind of like have some time for yourself and have some private time, it's like you're not really allowed to.

>> reporter: in a post on her blog kardashian said she will be donating the money from her wedding gifts to the dream foundation . the dream foundation confirmed they received a substantial contribution they said will help hundreds of families.
