India came back with a bang in the second test with bowlers leading the attack by bowling England out for 221.It was another pulsating day of cricket and at stumps, India were 24/1.
Dhoni?s recent love affair with the toss continued as he won the toss and elected to bowl.The decision was a must since? the conditions were overcast(as usual!) and the ball generally swings a lot more in Nottingham than it does at Lords.With Zaheer Khan being ruled out of the second test,Sreesanth was recalled into the test team.And thankfully,he made the ball talk rather than talk with his mouth.I am not a huge fan of him,but I will have to say that it was a treat to watch him bowl the way he did.The best part was that he stuck to his strengths and didn?t try to do anything fancy.His natural delivery is the one that leaves the right hander and he kept on bowling that till it fetched results.If only he manages to put up such a sort of performance on a regular basis,there is a very good possibility of him becoming an integral part of this team.Ishant Sharma too bowled beautifully,asking questions regularly but in my opinion,Praveen Kumar was the pick of the bowlers.I wouldn?t be surprised if one day he decides to settle in England!He is loving the conditions as the seamers shared a 3 wicket haul each.
There is always a twist in the tale in a day of test match cricket and this one was no exception.At tea, England were 120/8,with Broad and Swann at the crease.At that stage if anyone thought that England were down and out,the pair of them(Broad and Swann) had some other ideas.They came out with a positive approach and went after the Indian bowlers.They put up a partnership of 73 runs? from 70 balls with Broad scoring his second half century in the series so far.Indians need to figure out a way to get Broad out!This was the partnership that changed the course of the innings.Innings like these,lifts the spirits of everyone in the team.It was evident in the way England took the field.Everyone looked charged up and Mukund just helped their cause when he tried to jab at one from Anderson and Pietersen took a safe catch at gully,on the first ball of the innings.
Looks like it?s upto Dravid and laxman again to help India out of trouble for perhaps the millionth time!They used up all their experience and skill to survive the last 15 overs of the day.They would have to do that again tomorrow morning.With the likes of Tendulkar,Raina,Yuvraj and Dhoni to come,an exciting day of cricket lies ahead of us.
