Apple tablet dominance knocked in UK market

The world and its knackered old dog are preparing their own tablet offerings, with an interesting trend surfacing - software vendors going into hardware for the first time - and that is, inevitably, going to knock Apple's dominance.

According to a YouGov survey, the tablet market in the UK grew enough that nearly 10 percent of the entire population owned one. Of those, more than 70 percent were iPads, and the creatively named New iPad accounted for 11 percent.

That said, the survey revealed Apple's overall share dropped four percentage points from the previous quarter, thanks largely to competition from Samsung - itself enjoying a 7 percent market share. Samsung devices, YouGov said, are beating Apple in certain performance scores, namely in sturdiness and in reliability.

Half of current tablet owners, the majority of those surely iPad owners, are thinking about switching devices, particularly as price factors in as a major concern for iPad owners in particular.

YouGov's consulting director for technology and telecoms, John Gilbert, said that the trend is no great surprise. According to Gilbert, there is no brand on earth that can sustain 90 percent plus market share in an emerging device market. As the older and most financially secure generation is picking up tablets, usually spending over ?400, the lucrative market is too enticing to ignore for the competition.

Gilbert said that Apple set the standard for tablet quality, but Samsung and others are either close to matching or exceeding Cupertino on the price point. "As the tablet market taps into the early and late majority technology users," Gilbert said, "Apple may expect a declining share in a growing market".

Czech "Science Is Beautiful" photo and illustration competition explores the wondrous worlds discovered via scientific investigation

Life is filled with unexpected moments of beauty, something those on a lab bench know just as well as any poet. The third annual Science Is Beautiful competition at Charles University in Prague allowed students and faculty to share these moments through photographs, digital imagery and illustration.

"What is beautiful about science?" asked Bohuslav Ga?, dean of the university's Faculty of Science, which organized the competition, during his introductory speech at the exhibition of winning entries. "Two things: the enchantment in the discovery of the unknown and the delight in the elegance of ideas and shapes. The last one we can fully perceive in the present exhibition."

The contest, which debuted in 2009, aims to share science's esthetic with the general public, raising awareness of the marvels scientists encounter daily. The winning entries cross disciplines, setting mathematical models and crustacean anatomy side by side. Each image blurs the distinction between art and science, from a da Vinci?esque painting of a fetus in utero, to a photograph of magnified mineral surface with a palette that would have pleased Kandinsky.

The competition received 281 entries, and jurists included a number of prominent Czech scientists and artists, including a singer?songwriter-cum-dragonfly-photographer as well as the founder of the Digital Imaging Laboratory of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. In addition, the general public could comment on and rate entries online to elect a people's choice winner, which was announced alongside the jury's selections.

Winners could place in one of four categories: scientific microphotography, scientific photography, scientific illustration or virtual nature. In addition, the jury chose a grand prize?winner who received 12,000 Czech crowns.

The jury announced winners of the 2011 competition on December 14, 2011. This past May, the Czech edition of Scientific American shared a selection of winners and other outstanding entries. You can see more images from 2011 and previous years at the competition's Web site (in Czech).

Within a sliver of a second after it was born, our universe expanded staggeringly in size, by a factor of at least 1026. That's what most cosmologists maintain, although it remains a mystery as to what might have begun and ended this wild expansion. Now scientists are increasingly wondering if the most powerful particle collider in history, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Europe, could shed light on this mysterious growth, called inflation, by catching a glimpse of the particle behind it. It could be that the main target of the collider's current experiments, the Higgs boson, which is thought to endow all matter with mass, could also be this inflationary agent.

During inflation, spacetime is thought to have swelled in volume at an accelerating rate, from about a quadrillionth the size of an atom to the size of a dime. This rapid expansion would help explain why the cosmos today is as extraordinarily uniform as it is, with only very tiny variations in the distribution of matter and energy. The expansion would also help explain why the universe on a large scale appears geometrically flat, meaning that the fabric of space is not curved in a way that bends the paths of light beams and objects traveling within it.

The particle or field behind inflation, referred to as the "inflaton," is thought to possess a very unusual property: it generates a repulsive gravitational field. To cause space to inflate as profoundly and temporarily as it did, the field's energy throughout space must have varied in strength over time, from very high to very low, with inflation ending once the energy sunk low enough, according to theoretical physicists.

Much remains unknown about inflation, and some prominent critics of the idea wonder if it happened at all. Scientists have looked at the cosmic microwave background radiation?the afterglow of the big bang?to rule out some inflationary scenarios. "But it cannot tell us much about the nature of the inflaton itself," says particle cosmologist Anupam Mazumdar at Lancaster University in England, such as its mass or the specific ways it might interact with other particles.

A number of research teams have suggested competing ideas about how the LHC might discover the inflaton. Skeptics think it highly unlikely that any earthly particle collider could shed light on inflation, because the uppermost energy densities one could imagine with inflation would be about 1050 times above the LHC's capabilities. However, because inflation varied with strength over time, scientists have argued the LHC may have at least enough energy to re-create inflation's final stages.

It could be that the principal particle ongoing collider runs aim to detect, the Higgs boson, could also underlie inflation.

"The idea of the Higgs driving inflation can only take place if the Higgs's mass lies within a particular interval, the kind which the LHC can see," says theoretical physicist Mikhail Shaposhnikov at the ?cole Polytechnique F?d?rale de Lausanne in Switzerland. Indeed, evidence of the Higgs boson was reported at the LHC in December at a mass of about 125 billion electron volts, roughly the mass of 125 hydrogen atoms.

Also intriguing: the Higgs as well as the inflaton are thought to have varied with strength over time. In fact, the inventor of inflation theory, cosmologist Alan Guth at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, originally assumed inflation was driven by the Higgs field of a conjectured grand unified theory.

Health Care Ruling Prompts Catholic Bishops To Amp Up Efforts ...

Catholic bishops have vowed to continue the fight against what they say is one of the most objectionable outcomes of the health care law that the Supreme Court largely upheld on Thursday: the requirement that religious institutions that aren't strictly for worship, including hospitals and schools, provide birth control with no co-pay as part of insurance plans.

In an email blast to supporters after the court decision, bishops told people to continue "praying for an end to this mandate" and "for the renewal of our nation?s commitment to religious freedom." The email comes in the middle of a two-week long series of prayer vigils and rallies in dozens of dioceses around the country against what church leaders have called an "assault on religious freedom."

The Catholic church -- one of the biggest opponents of the Obama administration's health care legislation -- was not part of the lawsuit that the court ruled on Thursday, but it still took the opportunity to rally its supporters and reiterate its claims that the law threatens the church. Leaders of the church say the Affordable Care Act is flawed because it doesn't include "conscience protection," in which hospitals and employers can object to providing health services and health care coverage that is against their moral or religious beliefs. The church has also said the health care law does not provide adequately for undocumented immigrants.

"The decision of the Supreme Court neither diminishes the moral imperative to ensure decent health care for all, nor eliminates the need to correct the fundamental flaws," bishops said Thursday in a statement.

The bishops kicked off their "Fortnight for Freedom" events against the contraception policy a week ago with a Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption in Baltimore. More than 1,000 Catholics attended the standing-room only event, including some who came from neighboring states, according to a spokesman for the Baltimore archdiocese.

But while nearly every Catholic diocese in the nation has, or plans to, host events as part of the bishops' effort -- it ends July 4 with a Mass in Washington, D.C. -- the reception among Catholic laity has been mixed.

When priests recently began distributing pamphlets championing religious liberty at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Washington, D.C., a group of parishioners responded by meeting with their pastor to speak out against the campaign.

"We told him that we can practice our religion and our liberties are not in danger. And we said we thought it was insulting to people around the world who actually have their religious liberty in danger," parishioner Eileen Zogby said. She and her husband started a blog, Blessed Sacrament Families United in Faith and Action, with 30 parishioners to speak out against the bishops.

"I'm okay with contraception. I think people of celibate priesthood who don't really know about these issues shoudn't be messing around with women's health," Zogby said.

Her views align with that of many Catholics, according to polls. A survey by the Washington, D.C.-based Public Religion Research Institute found that roughly six-in-10 Catholics say employers should be required to provide coverage for contraception with no co-pay in insurance plans.

Tom Pringle, a student at the University of Central Florida and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Orlando, said his parish community has taken the opposite approach to the fortnight protests.

"The HHS [Health and Human Services] mandate is Obama coming and saying, 'I am determining what a religious organization is.' As a church, we do not believe in contraception, we believe in the dignity of the person from the moment of conception until death," Pringle, 24, said. "The whole point of the Catholic church stepping up and doing this is that many of the dioceses are self-insured and any costs for contraception coverage will come from their own pockets."

Pringle said that his parish, where about 650 mostly retired Catholics attend Mass each week, held a kick-off ceremony for Fortnight for Freedom last week and played a video message from their bishop calling on all Catholics to join in prayer and protest.

Not all Catholic parishes or dioceses have responded so strongly.

In Charlotte, N.C., where Joe Guyon attends Mass every week at St. Peter's Catholic Church, talk of contraception and religious liberty has been absent from the pews, he said.

"The people I talk to, they are either not interested or they do not understand where the bishops are coming from," said Guyon, a 66-year-old hospice worker. But despite his own disagreement with the bishops, Guyon said he will remain committed to his church.

"While I acknowledge that the fortnight thing has me a bit nuts, for me it's not church," he said. "The bishops can do their fortnight thing if that's what makes them happy ... I'll keep showing up every Sunday in spite of them."

It made the most sense, the 21-year-old graduate of Elon University in North Carolina said. She had no immediate job prospects and with a wedding coming up, she wanted to save money while looking for a job and plotting her next step.

Plus, she missed her parents and her hometown of Raleigh, and ?I don?t think there?s any shame in that,? she said.

?Just because you move home doesn?t mean you?ve failed,? said Ramsdell, who has a degree in journalism and art history. ?There used to be a logical progression: college, job, move on with life. But that?s not happening anymore.?

More than half of college graduates move back home, sociologist Katherine Newman wrote in her book, ?The Accordion Family: Boomerang Kids, Anxious Parents, and the Private Toll of Global Competition,? based on surveys conducted worldwide.

And many of them are finding it isn?t as painful as it sounds, she said. By setting ground rules and establishing expectations on both sides, parents and their adult children are learning to live together.

?People anticipate it will be more complicated than it turns out to be,? said Newman, dean of the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. ?It?s remarkably smooth for most families.?

Perhaps that?s because it?s such a common phenomenon. A Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. census data found that the share of Americans living in multigenerational households is at its highest level since the 1950s.

Overall, 39% of adults ages 18 to 34 say they either live with their parents or moved back in at some point in recent years, according the report. Among 18- to 24-year-olds, 53% said they live at home or moved in temporarily, compared with 41% among adults ages 25 to 29, and 17% among those ages 30 to 34.

For adult children, part of the fear of returning home has to do with being torn away from their social circles. But, thanks to social media, especially Facebook, they?re staying in touch with more friends from different times in their lives, Newman said, and finding that others are moving back home, too. The Pew report found that among adults ages 25 to 34, 61% said they have friends or family members who have moved back in with their parents over the past few years because of economic conditions.

Personal autonomy may have been more important to members of their parents? generation ? many of whom left home as soon as they could and never looked back. Now, the tide is reversing, Newman said. She said she is hopeful that the trend of parents welcoming their adult children home will lead to those children opening their homes down the road to their aging parents, if necessary.

Newman has adopted the term ?accordion family? to refer to the multigenerational working family as children move away and return and household dynamics stay in flux. Thanks to greater accessibility to education, the cultural and educational gap between parents and children is smaller than it was in previous eras, Newman said.

?Parents and children are more likely to be similarly educated and that adds to the common denominators,? Newman said. ?When I was a kid I did not listen to Frank Sinatra, who was my mother?s favorite singer. But my kids listen to the Rolling Stones.?

Baby boomer parents especially tend to welcome back their adult children with open arms because they spent more time at work than in the home compared with previous generations, she said.

?They?re happy to see them coming back because they weren?t so tired of them in first place,? Newman said. ?They?re not as likely to be thinking, ?Where is Susie at midnight?? or ?Is Johnny studying?? They?re getting the young adult version where surveillance and discipline issues have gone away.?

If relations were bad to begin with, however, moving home won?t make them any better, she said. An adult child staying out all night can still disturb the rest of the household.

During summer breaks, when Joan Reilly?s daughter would wake her in the middle of the night just by entering the home, she would tell herself, ?only two more months.?

Now, her daughter is returning home for the foreseeable future after graduating in May from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. Reilly said she is happy to have her home. But she?s been down this road before, and it wasn?t as smooth as she?d hoped it would be.

Her older daughter did not want to return to her parents? home in the Bronx after graduating in 2003, but she couldn?t find a job and had nowhere else to go. Most of her friends had moved on, and she spent a lot of time alone in her room until she finally found a job and became financially stable enough to leave.

?I guess I was clueless. I really thought she?d be glad to be home and around us again,? said Reilly, an administrative assistant at a college in the Bronx. ?But that wasn?t realistic because that?s not the life she really wanted. She wanted to not be living at home, but the economy prevented her from doing that and I guess that frustrated her.

?I had to learn to not take that too personally,? she said. ?We had different expectations.?

The older daughter went all the way to Australia on a work visa, where she met her future fianc? and married. She still lives there today. In fact, Reilly?s younger daughter is currently visiting her. But, when she returns, Reilly said she hopes they can reach common ground when it comes to coming and going as she pleases.

?I want to work out a compromise with her because if she wants to go out and have a good time that?s OK,? she said. ?Hopefully, either she sleeps at a friend?s house or doesn?t stay out so late so I don?t lose all sleep, just out of respect.?

It?s not the only ground rule. Reilly also expects her to do her own laundry and pay her cell phone bill while she looks for a job.

?We?ve had the conversation many times, but I think it?s going to be hard for her. I don?t know if she really believes what we say.?

Establishing ground rules and mutual terms is key to ensuring a successful transition, said Tracy Metro, host of ?I Live With My Mom,? a program on YouTube home and design channel, SPACEStv.

?The real question is how to be a grown-up in your childhood home, and that?s by behaving like a grown-up,? said Metro, former host of TLC?s ?Designing Spaces.?

It?s tempting for both sides to revert to the original family dynamic of mom making dinner, doing laundry and treating the adult child, like, well, a child, she said. A better approach is to behave as if you?re living on your own but just happen to be under the same roof as your parents. That means doing your laundry, cleaning, buying your own food or cooking for the house occasionally, she said. Every family deals with finances differently, but it doesn?t hurt to start the conversation about contributing to the household.

Upgrading your childhood room, if you?re still in it, can help pave the way to mental clarity necessary for becoming an adult, she said. It starts with getting rid of childhood mementos such as stuffed animals, toys and trophies.

?One nostalgic item showcases a bit of nostalgia; 20 of them is showcasing an obsession,? she said. ?We keep things because they?ve always been around, but as you get older it?s important to question why we have things. There?s nothing wrong with keeping them for memory?s sake but (put) them in a box.?

Ramsdell knew her childhood room wouldn?t cut it when she moved home last month. Timing worked out so that her parents moved into her late grandfather?s room, and she moved into theirs and completely redecorated it.

Otherwise, she pitches in with chores when asked to and cooks occasionally. L.A. metal recyclers charged in mishandling of toxic waste

Los Angeles city prosecutors Wednesday took the unusual step of filing criminal charges against the owners of three metal recycling businesses, accusing them of illegally handling hazardous waste and allowing toxic chemicals to be released into storm water.

"These facilities pose a significant threat to human health and the environment," said Patty Bilgin, who heads the Los Angeles city attorney's environmental justice unit. "These are toxic chemicals. We don't know where they are going."

The conditions inspectors found in some of the facilities were "inherently dangerous," Bilgin said. Among other things, the criminal complaint said there were puddles of oil on the ground and stacks of refrigerators and radiators ? which had not been properly drained of hazardous chemicals ? mixed in with scrap metal.

Prosecutors charged Jong Uk Byun, who owns Central Metal on South Alameda Street, with eight misdemeanor counts, including one related to runoff of water contaminated with copper, lead and zinc.

Geovedy and Waihner Cifuentes, owner and manager of CDL Scrap Metal on Mateo Street downtown, were charged with nine counts, including mishandling hazardous waste, illegally discharging polluted water and operating without a permit.

Don Monroe, the owner of C&M Metals on 24th Street, faces 13 similar counts.

If convicted, each business owner could face hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines and up to a year in jail, prosecutors said.

Waihner Cifuentes said he was taken by surprise. "I did not know. I have not received anything," he said.

He added that after inspectors visited his property earlier this year, "I did everything they told me.... We have everything in order here."

A person answering the phone at Central Metal said "nobody is aware of this" and had no further comment.

Monroe of C&M Metals said the charges "come as a shock" because he thought he had done his best to comply with what regulators asked.

The city attorney's office filed the charges after numerous agencies, including the Los Angeles County Fire Department's hazardous materials division and the regional water board, conducted inspections in February.

Recycling scrap metal ? much of it shipped to factories in Asia ? is a booming business in Central and South Los Angeles, and many environmental groups complain that some outfits violate environmental laws with impunity.

Councilwoman Jan Perry, a mayoral candidate who represents the area where two of the businesses operate, said she hopes the charges send a "loud and clear" message "to any company that chooses to profit before community health that we are watching and will not take these actions lightly."

Liz Crosson, executive director of Santa Monica Baykeeper, an environmental group that has sued several metal recycling operations for violating the federal Clean Water Act, also welcomed the action.

"It's important that polluters be held accountable," she said. "Contributing pollutants like toxic metals to our waterways is a criminal action. "

Her group earlier this month filed a federal lawsuit against C&M Metals accusing it of allowing water contaminated with toxic metal to drain into Ballona Creek.

OPTICAL DELUSION? | Telecom Ramblings

This article is by a new contributor to Telecom Ramblings, Gunnar Oddsson, who has been in the business for the last 17 years, working as a technician, project manager, consultant and a business owner.

On Tuesday, April 4th, 2012, Anton Troianovski wrote an article in The Wall Street Journal titled:??OPTICAL DELUSION? FIBER BOOMS AGAIN, DESPITE BUST.??

The article focuses on the sudden and somewhat, unexpected increase in fiber optic cable installation throughout the United States. The article takes us back to the year 2000 when the great tech boom reached heights never seen before and as we know, the tech industry took a big hard fall. In the midst of this downturn, fiber optic network owners took a tremendous hit with many going bankrupt. MFN was one of the biggest victims, while others, like Level[3] was able to weather the storm. MFN was known for offering ?Dark Fibers? to service providers who provided data and voice services to their customers. MFN placed fiber optic cables throughout the United States and had a large inventory of installed fibers when they faced bankruptcy. At that time, industry and financial analysts blasted MFN, Level [3] and others for excessive fiber optic installation.

But was it truly excessive????

In Mr. Troianovski?s article, the need for additional fiber is questioned, along with whether Internet video streaming will increase enough to justify more fiber installations.? It also points out that with?advanced technology, service providers can transmit more and more information through a single strand of fiber optic and therefore, the need for any more fiber installation is put into question. This line of thinking is flawed.

The advantages of fiber optics over copper can not be disputed. Without fiber optics, today?s Internet would not exist as we know it. Businesses depend on fast, secure and reliable fiber optic networks to keep the economy running and households are requiring more bandwidth for entertainment purposes.? Thousands of fiber optic networks have been installed throughout The United States and around the globe.

Fiber optic networks are complex in design and engineering and it takes months and sometimes years until a network is complete and placed into commission. Networks expand every year as more and more customers sign up for Internet access and the telecommunication landscape changes.

To say that there is enough fiber in the ground, is simply not true. Unless every commercial and residential building in The United States is connected to a fiber optic network, there is not enough fiber in the ground.? (I know it?s a longshot, but can be done!)

The electrical grid is huge and connects every commercial and residential building in The United States to it?s grid. Most buildings are also connected to the old telecommunication system, which is the traditional two pair copper wire. Since fiber optics have overtaken the use of copper, why shouldn?t we connect every building with fiber optics?

It is important to remember, that fiber optic networks are a huge part of our infrastructure. While our government has neglected the infrastructure in the United States for the last 30 years, fiber optic service providers have been busy upgrading our old telecommunication system. All around us, and most visibly, highways and bridges are crumbling under an immense increase in traffic. The water and sewage system needs an upgrade due to increase in population. The electrical grid is in shock over additional requirements from consumers for more electricity. Who can forget the big black out in the North East in 2002? That should simply not happen in any modern society.

Instead of criticizing, we should be thankful for the visionaries who laid down the work 15-20 years ago, for one of the greatest infrastructure improvements taking place for the last 50 years. And the majority of it has been done without government funding. Who knows where the Internet would be today if not for MFN?s and Level [3]?s bold risk taking and future predictions 15 years ago? Maybe they knew what was coming and in order to be ready for what the Internet offers today, they looked ahead. Way further than most of us did.

Technology is always late to catch on with majority of people, especially those who did (or do) not grow up in technology environment. Let?s not forget, that our children (I have two children, ages 10 & 11) are growing up with technology at their fingertips. Schools are computerized and require children to search the Internet for school projects. Homework and schedules are posted on line. Teachers prefer parents to contact them via e-mail rather than face to face meeting or a phone call. Our children will utilize and work on the Internet in ways beyond our dreams.

This is not the place to discuss how fiber optic networks are designed and engineered, but if anybody wants to?criticize?network owners for ?excessive? fiber installation, critics need to have at least some understanding of how and why fiber optic networks are built the way they are built.

If network owners could transmit all the worlds Internet traffic through 144 fibers (common fiber cable size), why wouldn?t they? It would be incredibly cheap and probably the best investment ever to be offered to the public. But that?s simply not possible. I have been building fiber optic networks for service providers for the last 17 years and we are still installing fiber optic cables to commercial buildings and for the last 10 years, Verizon has been pushing fiber to the home (FTTH) and they and others, still have a long way to go.

Cities, towns, highways, seaports and airport authorities are installing fibers to build and connect networks of cameras for our protection. Utility companies use fiber optics to control their power plants and facilities.

Along with an increase in video streaming, the financial sector has been pushing for faster trading speeds, often called ?High Frequency Trading?. These practices look for the fastest point to point connections, often through the shortest possible fiber cabling routes. Along with shorter fiber cable routes, microwave installations are competing, but also working with fiber optic networks on faster data transmissions. By utilizing microwave technology, trading can take place at the speed of light, while fiber optics transmit data at 2/3 of the speed of light. Some network owners use both technologies to transmit data and when microwave transmissions are affected by athmospheric conditions, fiber optics networks often work as a secondary route, despite slower speeds.

But fiber optic network owners are not only betting on the financial sector and Internet video streaming to occupy the majority of available bandwidth. (The SEC is looking into the practices of ?High Frequency Trading? and there are some speculations, that this form of trading will be banned).

3D/4D technology is catching on and there are multiple industries that will benefit tremendously from this technology. The medical industry and manufacturers are utilizing 3D technology for their customers to review products remotely from every angle. The medical industry will soon have surgeons performing surgeries remotely via technology dependent on fiber optic networks.

There is one industry though that will push 3D/4D technology to its limit and beyond and that is the entertainment industry.

Gaming developers are making billions of dollars of online gaming. Call of Duty and Battlefield are the generals that rule Internet gaming. Every year, improvements in electronics and graphics take us closer and closer to real life battles and before we know, we?ll be fighting those battles hooked up to advanced technology that allows us into the game, to fight side by side with our comrades and feel the pain of being shot and the trauma of shooting the enemy.

Then, there is the adult entertainment industry, which will utilize similar technology to bring pole dancers and escorts to our livingrooms for a close up one on one entertainment.

All this depends on vast, secure fiber optic networks.

Final thoughts.

We often tend to forget that the young generation is the generation who embraces technology. As parents, we try to stick to methods that our parents used to raise us and often we don?t allow our children to get close enough to the technology available to them. We fear the Internet and it?s dark sides and we try to limit gaming as much as we can. We introduce them to things we did as children and we wonder why they have no interest in it. Children are smart and access to modern technology only makes them smarter. Today?s child has an IQ 15-20 points higher than we did (the 40 some). New inventions are introduced to us every year and before long, somebody will develop the next big idea that everybody has been waiting for since Google and Facebook.

That invention will be Internet based and reliant on fiber optics.

I?ll put my bet on somebody under the age of 25.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft may have no interest in owning an English soccer club, but he definitely wants to see someone own an English NFL franchise.

According to Neil Reynolds of Sky Sports, Kraft has said during a speaking engagement in England he believes the NFL should have a team in London.

?I personally think we should have a franchise in London and that is something I am going to push for,? Kraft said.? ?I think I said that the last time we were over here in 2009 and before this next decade is out, I hope we have a team here.? I think that would be right for the NFL and this fan base has proven they deserve it.?

And by rewarding the fan base in England, the NFL will be rewarding itself.

?I think we?re starting to tap out in the United States,? Kraft said.? ?If you look at the last Super Bowl we were in this past season, we had over 180 million people watching ? that?s almost two thirds of America.? So for us to grow the game, we have to expand globally.? Heartburn is a rather common symptom during pregnancy that results from the physiological changes the pregnant woman is undergoing. Normally, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which connects the stomach with the esophagus and prevents the food from flowing back up, lies within the same plain as the diaphragm and its functions are amplified with the help of this muscle. However, when the fetus starts to develop, it pushes the stomach and the esophagus upwards a bit, to the point when LES is not within the same plane as the diaphragm. This in turn weakens the functions of the sphincter and allows some stomach contents to reflux back into the esophagus, causing heartburn. If this becomes a major discomfort, consult with your doctor about using Nexium.

GERD

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease is a serious health problem that can lead to chronic heartburn and more serious symptoms. If you experience heartburn on a regular basis at least once a week, it may be the sign of GERD. And the sooner you start treating it the better. Doctors usually prescribe Nexium as a means to soothe the discomfort, although it is usually a part of the treatment that involves other medications as well.
